The Ukrainian hryvnia fell to fourth place from the end of the list of the most undervalued currencies in the world in the updated Index, the big Mac. In January 2020, the national currency was in seventh place, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to finance.ua.
This is according to the rating of the Economist in July 2020.
According to the publication, a big Mac in Ukraine is UAH 59, while in the United States – 5.71 USD. Thus, the rate of Ukrainian currency is undervalued by 61.9 per cent compared with the actual exchange rate 27,13 UAH/dollar exchange rate as the purchasing power should be at the level of 10.33 UAH/USD.
In 2018, according to the Index big Mac Ukrainian currency has been undervalued by 69% and was ranked first in the ranking, and in July 2019 Ukrainian hryvnia took fifth place in the list of the most undervalued currencies in the course of the Ukrainian currency was undervalued by 61.3%, in January, the hryvnia rose to seventh from the bottom, the hryvnia was undervalued by 58.1 per cent.
The most undervalued currencies in the world in July 2020 are the monetary unit of South Africa, Russia and Turkey.
Overvalued currencies are only the Swiss franc Lebanese pound Swedish Krona. In Switzerland, a big Mac is 20.9% more expensive than in the US.
