Belarusian security forces have detained more than 230 participants of protest actions, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to the Correspondent.
Most of the detainees in Minsk — 188 people. Also some people were detained at rallies in Homel, Pruzhany, Soligorsk, Bobruisk, Grodno and Columns.
As reported, in Belarus during the unauthorized protests, which began after the refusal of the Central electoral Commission to register two opposition candidates, detention began and clashes with the police.
The European Union has criticized the Belarusian authorities for refusing to register opposition in the presidential election. According to the official Brussels, the country’s President Alexander Lukashenko did not provide a meaningful and competitive political competition.
