Smigel confident in the stability of the hryvnia after the resignation of the head of the NBU.
The resignation of the head of the National Bank of Ukraine Yakov Smoliy did not seriously affect Ukraine’s relations with international partners and cooperation with the IMF and the European Union will continue. On 3 July Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal in the program Freedom of speech Savik Shuster, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to the Correspondent.
“The IMF reacted intensely, but with restraint. We continue to cooperate. The Minister of Finance spoke to the IMF yesterday. Today, I met with the Vice-President of the European Commission. <…> In the near future we hope to sign with the EU a Memorandum on granting the next tranche of macro-financial assistance in the amount of 1.2 billion euros,” − said the Prime Minister.
According to him, the government has constructively worked and continue to work with the leadership of the NBU, and the change of the head of the Central Bank will not affect the stability of the hryvnia.
“At the joint meeting, we have developed economic policies to exit the crisis. And the result was the gradual reduction of the NBU discount rate to 6%. I stress that the legislation of Ukraine issued so that the replacement of the head of the national Bank will not affect the stability of the national currency”, − said Smigel.
