Protests in Belarus detained more than 100 people

In Belarus during protests in different cities have been detained more than 100 people. Protests were organized in response to the detention of activists and politicians during the presidential election campaign, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to RBC.

Among the detainees were also about 10 journalists. Most of the arrests took place in Minsk and Babruysk, Vitebsk, Gomel, Mogilev, Grodno and Novopolotsk.

It is reported that protests in Belarus were resumed on Friday, June 19. Demonstrators in many cities of Belarus organized a “chain of solidarity” in support of politicians and activists who were detained during the electoral campaign.

Note, the presidential elections in Belarus scheduled for 9 August. May 21, began collecting voter signatures for nomination of candidates. Collection are action groups 13 and 15 are initially registered by the CEC. Two of the contenders out of the race came out. Registration of presidential candidates will be held from 5 to 14 July.
