Atlanta (GA) June 13, demonstrations began after an African American was shot by police during the arrest and died in hospital, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to the Correspondent.
It is noted that a group of protesters gathered in the center of the city. They require the authorities to stop excessive use of police force and to ensure respect for the rights of African Americans.
Later it became known that the chief of police of Atlanta, Erica shields resigned in connection with the incident. The mayor keisha lance bottoms said at a press conference that he does not consider justified the use of firearms by guards in the case.
Bureau of investigation Georgia instituted proceedings in connection with the incident. In a statement the Agency notes that on the evening of 12 June, the police responded to a call at a fast food restaurant in the Central part of the city.
A dark-skinned man Richard Brooks, fell asleep in the car, blocking passage to the restaurant the other cars. Law enforcement authorities established that Brooks was drunk.
They intended to apprehend him, but the man resisted. Police tried to TASE, but Brooks took it. During the struggle the guard shot an African American.
Brooks was hospitalized, but doctors failed to save his life. One of the policemen also suffered. He received medical help.
