A new stage of decentralization in Ukraine will be three times less areas

Ukraine is entering a new stage of decentralization. At the Cabinet meeting today, June 12, decided to reduce the number of districts to 129. A proposal members of the government supported, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to the Correspondent.

Now in Ukraine there are 490 districts. They were created in the first half of the last century. Since then, says Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal, many things have changed and such a division has long been not true. Moreover, it is not effective. Even neighboring districts can vary, for example, in population several times.

“The division into districts, and was held in Soviet times. It does not meet many modern standards. I need to clean. In some areas, is now home to 5,000 people. But there are areas where the lives of 180 thousand people or more. So we have distortions in subventions and subsidies”, — explained the Prime Minister.

The Cabinet offered to existing areas to densify and create 129 new areas. Areas it will look like the following:

— Crimea — 10 districts;

— Donetsk region — 8 districts;

— Lugansk region — 8 districts;

— Lviv region — 7 districts;

— Kharkiv region — 7 districts;

— Dnipropetrovsk oblast — 6 areas;

— Kiev region — 6 areas;

— Odessa region — 6 areas;

— The Vinnytsia region — 5 districts;

— The Transcarpathian region — 5 districts;

— Zaporozhye region — 5 districts;

— Ivano-Frankivsk region — 5 districts;

— Khmelnitsky region — 5 districts;

— Sumy region — 5 districts;

— Volyns’ka region — 4 district;

— Zhytomyr region — 4 district;

— The Kirovograd region — 4 district;

— Mykolaiv region — 4 district;

— Poltava region — 4 district;

— The Rovno region — 4 district;

— Cherkasy region — 4 district;

— Chernigov region — 4 district;

— Ternopilska region — 3 district;

— Kherson region – 3 district;

— Chernivtsi region — 3 district.

However, in the framework of decentralization in Ukraine will form about fifteen hundred GSS:

— Odessa region — 91 GSS;

— Dnipropetrovsk region — 86 GSS;

— Kiev region — 69 GSS;

— Zaporozhye region — 67 GSS;

— Cherkasy region — 67 GSS;

— Donetsk oblast — 66 GSS;

— Zhytomyr region — 65 GSS;

— The Transcarpathian region — 64 GSS;

— Rivne oblast — 64 GSS;

More time to review and publish revised data for Vinnytsia, Poltava, Odessa, Zhitomir, Lviv and Sumy regions have promised in the Cabinet for tomorrow.

In General, for local elections, plan to divide Ukraine into 1470 communities. Changes to the Constitution regarding the administrative-territorial unit will make after the local elections, said earlier “the Servant of the people”.
