The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church condemned the pogroms of Roma camps in Lviv and called on the police to conduct a transparent and impartial investigation.

“With great concern and indignation we received the news increasingly, Roma pogroms that occur in different regions of Ukraine. In those days there was, perhaps, the most terrible tragedy in which there are dead and wounded, among them women and children,” – said in a statement.

It is noted that such actions “unworthy of a European nation and discrediting independent Ukrainian state and, therefore, is a matter that benefits the enemies of Ukraine”. “We call on the governmental authorities a transparent and impartial manner to conduct investigations to establish the names of offenders who have under applicable law to be punished. We urge citizens of Ukraine to stand firmly against this type of behavior, which has nothing to do with the Christian or with universal rules and norms”, – noted in UCGCC.
