In Thessaloniki, Greece mass riots take place due to the renaming of Macedonia, writes with reference to .

Reportedly, the protesters clashed with forces of the International exhibition and Convention centre, where the ruling party SYRIZA held a event to present the benefits of the agreement reached between Greece and Macedonia last week.

According to the media, the fans of the football club PAOK tried to storm the exhibition hall, but was blocked by the militiamen who used against activists tear gas.

Event organizers initially planned to hold it at the cultural center in Tumba, but decided to change the venue after the PAOK supporters, local residents and other groups announced a protest. Nationalists in Greece and Macedonia are against the agreement, under which the country is renamed the Republic of Northern Macedonia.

We will remind, after long and arduous negotiations, on 20 June, the Macedonian Parliament ratified the Treaty with Greece of renaming the country.
